"This law will give a break to our veterans who have served our state and country overseas," stated Senator Jacobs, a member of the Senate Commerce Committee. House Bill 3274 will allow a resident veteran to purchase hunting and/or fishing license at a reduced fee. The resident veteran returning from service must provide verification of service at one of the Department of Natural Resource’s five regional offices. The Department is responsible for establishing what is to be considered suitable verification. Under the previous law a person buying a fishing license between the ages of 16 and 64 must pay $14.50 for a license. Those 65 and older pay half of that fee. A hunting license for all species is currently $12 for persons under the age of 65 and half price for those 65 years or above.
